Lessons Learned in Life: Redlands teacher Laura Whitehurst
Approved Scholarships and Grants, and Educational Courses
Last year, our Scholarship Committee sent to numerous teachers, including Laura Elizabeth Whitehurst, a teacher at Citrus Valley High School, a series of scholarship applications to be distributed to students at her high-school. The 28 year-old teacher never responded to our written requests that eligible students be notified of our California Scholarship opportunities.
Now, we know why Laura Whitehurst was so busy. Last week, local and national media report that high-school teacher Laura Elizabeth Whitehurst was arrested on suspicion of having inappropriate, and unlawful sex with a student who was most likely elgible for numerous California Scholarships tht we sponsor. The Redlands Police Department confirmed the arrest of the Redlands high-school teacher. Redlands Police also claim Whitehurst gave birth to a child police say was fathered by a teenage student.
Alleged Sexual Predator Laura Whitehurst Faces 41 Rape-Related Charges
Instead of simply distributing and promoting our California Scholarship literature to eligible male and female students as she was instructed to do so, Ms. Laura Elizabeth Whitehurst apparently had other plans with certain of her students. Rape. Abuse. Lust. Dirty sex. Inappropriate conduct. Perversity. Sin. Even pregnancy. The local police claim that Laura Elizabeth Whitehurst was a sexaul deviant who targeted teen boys as young as 14 years-old.
As of July 8th, 2013, at least 41 Felony counts related to inappropriate sexual contact has been leveled against Laura Elizabeth Whitehurst per the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office. The full extent of this apparent sexual depravity is unknown since it is unlikely that all victims will ever come forward. Fun times appear to be over with for Laura Elizabeth Whitehurst. I am not going to provide any advice to Laura Elizabeth Whitehurst who she could have avoided these charges. However, I am going to re-count the Lessons Learned In Life that Laura Whitehurst should know by now. District Attorney Michael Ramos says “Students represent the future of our communities and protecting them will continue to be my number one priority.” I agree. However, until I have firm evidence that Michael Ramos has prosecuted Laura Elizabeth Whitehurst to the very fullest exent of the law, and that if convicted– she is actually incarcerated in a real prison alongside non-privileged members of society– then I will believe his statements.
Laura Elizabeth Whitehurst failed or refused to California Scholarship literature to an eligible California student and apparently declined to even share vital financial-aid, scholarships, grants, tuition, free scholarship forms, that were all oompletely free to eligible California students, and their moms.
The lessons learned In life in this case are too numerous to document. Teachers have a moral, ethical, and legal obligation not to interfere with a students’ prospects for education, and to promptly distribute scholarships, grants, and financial-aid literature to students when recieved by scholarship sponsors. It is the responsibility of the students and/or their parents to decide if the students desire to pursue such scholarships, grants, or financial-aid options. Most teachers lack the capacity to make proper decisions concerning their own personal life and certainly should not be making personal decisions impacting the possibility of receiving lucrative scholarships, grants, and financial-aid packages from scholarship sponsors. Especially, if there is NO COST involved.
