The state is a center of transportation, education, information technology and research, government services, mining, and a major tourist destination for outdoor recreation. According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s population estimates, Utah was the fastest-growing state in the United States as of 2008. St. George, Utah, was the fastest–growing metropolitan area in the United States from 2000 to 2005. A 2012 Gallup national survey found Utah overall to be the “best state to live in” based on 13 forward-looking measurements including various economic, lifestyle, and health-related outlook metrics.   1. Utah Scholarship Applicant must be a high-school senior and attend one of the high-schools located in the state of Utah;
  2. Utah Scholarship Applicant must have a G.P.A. of at least 2.0 at the time of completing the Utah scholarship application;
  3. Utah Scholarship Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, and Utah resident at the time of completing the Utah scholarship application;
  4. Utah Scholarship Applicant must register his/her name and email address, and payment preference with National Academy of American Scholars;
  5. Utah Scholarship Applicant must write an essay in 500 words or less why he/she believes that as an Utah resident, how winning the Utah scholarship will benefit the state of Utah.
