New York City, with a population of over 8.1 million, is the most populous city in the United States. Alone, it makes up over 40 percent of the population of New York state. It is known for its status as a center for finance and culture and for its status as the largest gateway for immigration to the United States. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, New York City is also a destination of choice for many foreign visitors.   1. New York Scholarship Applicant must be a high-school senior and attend one of the high-schools located in the state of New York;
  2. New York Scholarship Applicant must have a G.P.A. of at least 2.0 at the time of completing the New York scholarship application;
  3. New York Scholarship Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, and New York resident at the time of completing the New York scholarship application;
  4. New York Scholarship Applicant must register his/her name and email address, and scholarship preference with National Academy of American Scholars;
  5. New York Scholarship Applicant must write an essay in 500 words or less why he/she believes that as an New York resident, how winning the New York scholarship will benefit the state of New York.
