The state of Tennessee is rooted in the Watauga Association, a 1772 frontier pact generally regarded as the first constitutional government west of the Appalachians. What is now Tennessee was initially part of North Carolina, and later part of the Southwest Territory. Tennessee was admitted to the Union as the 16th state on June 1, 1796. Tennessee was the last state to leave the Union and join the Confederacy at the outbreak of the U.S. Civil War in 1861, and the first state to be readmitted to the Union at the end of the war. Tennessee Scholarship Applicant must be a high-school senior and attend one of the high-schools located in the state of Tennessee;
Tennessee Scholarship Applicant must have a G.P.A. of at least 2.0 at the time of completing the Tennessee scholarship application;
Tennessee Scholarship Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, and Tennessee resident at the time of completing the Tennessee scholarship application;
Tennessee Scholarship Applicant must register his/her name and email address, and scholarship preference with National Academy of American Scholars;
Tennessee Scholarship Applicant must write an essay in 500 words or less why he/she believes that as an Tennessee resident, how winning the Tennessee scholarship will benefit the state of Tennessee.
