Zinch Scholarships

A Scholarship Blog Review of Zinch Scholarships

What exactly are Zinch scholarships? Zinch scholarships claim to be on-line service owned by Chegg Inc. Under the Zinch scholarship banner, Zinch scholarships claims to provide a variety of services to prospective college or university students seeking Zinch scholarships, as well as other scholarships, grants, and financial-aid.

Zinch scholarships also claim to provide Zinch scholarships to college bound high school students ready to enroll in prospective colleges or universities. Under “Zinch Services”, Zinch Scholarships claim to allow students seeking Zinch scholarships, and other scholarships, grants, and financial-aid, to create scholarship profiles, and thereafter get matched with and recruited by universities.

Under the eligibility requirements of Zinch scholarships, Zinch scholarships offers its scholarship services to persons as young as 13 years of age or older. The age of 13 years is identical to the minimum age set by FaceBook, Inc to register little kids. Although Zinch Scholarships claim to be marketed towards and/or “reserved for high school students”, Zinch Scholarships also target “those seeking higher education.”

The quality of the criteria set by Zinch scholarships is not too much different than the current plethora of lottery-style scholarship sponsors that seek quantity of scholarship applicants over quality of scholarship applicants.

According to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, it was not until October 27, 2011, that the company that manages Zinch scholarships thought enough of the service to even file a U.S. Trademark application. When a person throws enough mud on a wall, eventually the person believes the mud has value.

According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark office, the term “Zinch” has no special meaning and more specifically the wording “zinch” has no meaning in a foreign language.

On August 15th, 2012, we discussed earlier that ScholarshipsPoints.Com, another lottery-style scholarship sponsor, embarked upon the risky business of seeking a U.S. Trademark/Service mark registration for the phrase “ScholarshipPoints.”

Like the Zinch Scholarships, the U.S. Trademark application submitted by ScholarshipPoints.Com (SeriaL Number 85704330) came AFTER several years of use of the term “ScholarshipPoints”, and after the company had already accumulated over 200,000 FaceBook Likes, and over 52,000 Twitter followers while **sharing use of the phrase Scholarship Points with other organizations.

Zinch Scholarships does have some very strange clauses. Consider for example, the idemnification clause by Zinch scholarships. Zinch Scholarships requests that Zinch Scholarship applicants specifically “..for yourself and on behalf of your heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin, agree to indemnify and hold harmless Zinch, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors … any injury, disability or death you may suffer…”

For scholarships, grants, and financial-aid options that will impress colleges, employers, and community leaders, we recommend that students first consider scholarships, grants, and financial-aid options that are actually sponsored by National Academy of American Scholars. Nonetheless, we also invite students to also explore the options available at Zinch scholarships by exploring their information.
